More vintage scans

Image
These images were shot in 1975 when the South Street Seaport was beginning to be noticed. It was in it-s infancy. I would take my Yashicamat 124 loaded with Ektachrome 120 Professional and shoot away. As you ca see, the place was still not well attended. This would change soon after as people began to realize what a wonderful venue it was. It has now become super touristy and somewhat over commercialized to the point that it has lost some of it's meaning. It's still a great place to visit on your Saturday.

Have a great weekend

Just glorious

I am scanning away like crazy. My scanner of choice is the Epson V600 that allows medium format scans. The results, using a good image to begin with, are amazing. These shots date from 1975. I was very nervous because my wife was pregnant with our first child so shooting calmed me down. These shots were taken at the glorious Brooklyn Botanic Garden, a truly wonderful site. The Ektachromes have kept their colors well and the old Yashicamat 124 never failed me.

Freeport, LI, NY

Image
A wonderful place to go for a stroll and for great fish. One can buy freshly caught fish or eat it in good restaurants. The area suffered as a result of hurricane Sandy but it has been restored. This place has many happy personal memories and it's a great place to photograph. These are film images, BTW.

Buon appetito; tutti a tavola.

I used to take many photos on my trips but these days I more eating and cooking. With the superb ingredients we have in Sicily and a stomach that is always hungry I enjoy myself more in front of a stove than behind a camera. What can I say but buon appetito .

Approaching Capri

Image
This shot of the northern part of the Amalfi coast was made from a ferry that was going from Amalfi to Naples. Capri's famous boulders can be seen on the left side of the image.

Pompey

Image
A must place to visit if in Naples, Pompey after much excavation, offers a window to the lifestyle of wealthy Romans who kept luxurious vacation homes. It all came to an end in August of 79 AD when Vesuvius erupted and buries the town. The place is not far from Naples and can be reached by the Circumvesuviana rail road.

Have a beautiful week
