Clear sky

Image
A clear day without a cloud in the sky. You can almost feel the heat in the photo. This is an archival shot. A  scanned Kodachrome II slide from a long time ago. This area is now built up in new villas and has lost much of it's natural charm.

Have a wonderful Valentine's weekend

It's always beautiful

Image
A recent shot of my beloved Castellammare del Golfo . This is the castle from which it gets it's name.

Just a tease

Image
Presently, where this blog is originating from, it's a chilly -11 degrees Celsius so I may be excused if I post two recent scans of beautiful red magnolias that hearken back to warmer spring days past but with the hope that they will soon make their much desi red return.

Always beautiful

Image
This shot dating from 1974, shows the magic of this city. It was beautiful then as it is now.

It was inevitable; 100 MP is here

Phase one to the rescue of mega pixel nymphomaniacs   Danish camera manufacturer Phase One has enlarged their range of A-Series by introducing the new 100MP IQ3 digital back. These A-Series kitsaare made up  of the Alpa 12TC camera body with the choice of one of three lenses and the choice of IQ3 backs in 50-, 60-, 80- and 100-million-pixel resolutions. What makes the A-Series very useful is the lack of a mirror to bounce and create  vibrations. This makes VR unnecessary. As for the not yet announced price......the well to do need not worry but for the rest of us...ouch!

Think spring; why not?

Image
I believe that it's always appropriate to think of spring so as to keep  the heart young. And let's face it, winter is half gone. BTW, these scans on Kodachrome II date from the spring of 1974. Not too shabby. I miss this magical film. The camera was the Nikon FTn with the 55mm F 3.5 Micro Nikkor.

Another blast from the past

What can I say, I keep finding images that I had forgotten having taken. I hope you like them.

Long ago and far away

Image
This shot was taken in Genoa, Italy in the summer of 1969. Most of the subjects in the shot live only in the captured image. This is the  uncanny and awesome power of photography.

Have a peaceful week
