Exotic flower

Image
One doesn't ever know what wonders lie waiting in a green house. This rather exotic flower appealed to be because of it's delicacy and colorful contrasts. As always, this was shot at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

Have a delicious weekend

Segesta

Image
The old ruins of Segesta in Sicily under rather unusual light. Shooting into the light, total anathema, does word at times.

Nothing ever really changes

These children are playing on the same cement blocks I did with my friends many years ago.      Although they now all have their all have smartphones now and dress just like American kids, these blocks remains. Their function is to protect the castle from rough waves. These photos were shot last Deember.

Pretty yellow flowers

Image
These pretty flowers come in late spring and are perennials. I love their delicacy but, alas, they only stay for a short time.

New Nikon software

Image
Nikon Capture NX-D-1.0.0 is here. Nikon has  just released  their version 1.0.0 of Capture NX-D, introduced in beta form earlier this year.  I was never able to like the NX version  of Capture. Cannot  stand the interface.  The pre NX Capture was ideal for me. Using Lightroom I do not see what the big deal is.  NX-D is the first version of Nikon's flagship Raw converter since previous developer Nik Software became  part of Google's empire in 2012. The software has a new user interface, batch conversion and the usual non-destructive workflow that saves adjustments in parallell files  along with  the original images. You may like this if you like the interface.

Children

Image
These beautiful children were at the Cervini Day Care Center in Queens, NYC, run by Catholic Charities, my costumer. It's always nice to photograph children in a candid manner.

Pulling photos out of a hat

Image
What I mean is that photos are all over and a scene that normally can and really is not pretty, with the proper light, composition and post editing, can become acceptable or even pretty. Here we are again under the I 495 in Long Island City, Queens and this is the notorious Newtown Creek a polluted body of water that slowly is being cleaned up.

Have a beautiful new week

Keep your eyes open

Image
Beauty is where you find it and it may be anywhere if you know how to look. This image of a red building covered with green growth is rather beautiful although it's located in a rather ugly and bleak area. You have to keep your eyes open.
