Have a paceful week end / vi auguriamo ona fine di settimana pacifica

La differenza

There are striking differences between the architecture of the US and the one here in the South of Italy, Whereas in the US, at least in the North the homes have many windows to take advantage of the rather weak sun, here we try to shun it as it brings additional unwanted heat. There's just too much sun here.

The traditional homes have few windows but all has an balcony. I do love the clen lines of the traditional American buildings. These are from Straudsburg, Pennsylvania,

Hw a wonderul Thursday / Abbiate un bellissimo giovedi'

Back to San Gemignano

This little Tuscan hill town is full of charming places to photograph. If some of these have been posted before, I appreciate your indulgence.

It's salsa time

I do not mean the dance but the fresh tomatoes sauce, salsa di pomodoro, I'm planning to make with these  great tomatoes. Of course these are the San Marzano type of tomatoes, not the traditional round Sicilian types that I prefer but are not quite ready yet. These will do.

More from Baltimore again [part 1]

I hope that the visitors do not tire of some of my posts. Being in Italy I am not really able to avail myself of my huge archives. I love the Baltimore inner harbor area so I posting a few more photos.

Old buildings of Castellammare del Golfo

This place doesn't lack old buildings. In the original part of the city, some of the structures are actually built on foundations that go back to the fist millennium. Many have been fixed up many times. Many are awaiting further modernization as there's a renewed interest in returning to these areas that were sort of abandoned as people moved into elevator apartments in the new section of the town. this is gentrification Italian style.
