The Fuji S1-Pro was my first digital camera that I used on jobs. It's color was phenomenal. These two shots are out of the camera Jpegs. BTW, I love to photopgraph children.

I went to my favorite vegetable market to buy a couple of eggplants top make my pasta alla norma and found this unusual specimen. I just had to share with you all.

La differenza

There are striking differences between the architecture of the US and the one here in the South of Italy, Whereas in the US, at least in the North the homes have many windows to take advantage of the rather weak sun, here we try to shun it as it brings additional unwanted heat. There's just too much sun here. The traditional homes have few windows but all has an balcony. I do love the clen lines of the traditional American buildings. This little Tuscan hill town is full of charming places to photograph. If some of these have been posted before, I appreciate your indulgence.

It's salsa time

I do not mean the dance but the fresh tomatoes sauce, salsa di pomodoro , I'm planning to make with these  great tomatoes. Of course these are the San Marzano type of tomatoes, not the traditional round Sicilian types that I prefer but are not quite ready yet. These will do.

Old buildings of Castellammare del Golfo

This place doesn't lack old buildings. In the original part of the city, some of the structures are actually built on foundations that go back to the fist millennium. Many have been fixed up many times. Many are awaiting further modernization as there's a renewed interest in returning to these areas that were sort of abandoned as people moved into elevator apartments in the new section of the town. this is gentrification Italian style.
