The old and the new
On the 287 North in New York State there was the old Tappa Zee Bridge. Recently it was replaced by a new one called the Mario M. Cuomo bridge in honor of the ex Governor for whom I worked as a photographer many years ago. Approaching the new bridge, it looks like a bunch of sails. The new bridge is very sleek while the old one, due to be demolished soon, was of a very down to Earth no nonsense design with little imagination. I like the new bridge and I wanted to share these images with you.

Centennial celebration
In early summer of 1986, the Statue of Liberty was reopened after it was restored to it's former glory. It was also it's centennial. Naturally in New York, everything is done large [excuse the grammatical error]. This was the great boat parade before the actual lighting up of the light by President Regan. We [myself, my wife and the children] first went on the Brooklyn Bridge from where these images were made and then we got on the Staten Island Ferry to see the late night celebrations. All in all it was a memorable experience.

Nikon to face the music, at last but lentamente
Nikon should be bringing out a mirrorless camera by next spring.
With the launch of the much-celebrated D850 at the end of last
year (and there are MANY reasons to celebrate it), Nikon
still needs a pro-grade mirrorless camera if they want to compete with Sony. Canon, are you reading this.
According to an interview on the Japanese network NHK with a Nikon manager that was first discovered by NikonEye.com,
the Nikon employee responds to a question about Nikon mirrorless
cameras by saying, "development is underway, and we expect to bring one
to market by spring of [2019]. Let us hope so. Mirrors are the past.
