After the sunset

The best time to photograph is when the sun has just set and the sky becomes magical.

Winter scenes

Image
These images were shot in Greenport, NY, on Long Island north shore and at the end of the wine country. It was actually a wonderful day with deep blue skies. Winter can actually smile at you at times. You can feel the cold and see winter's grip. .

Vintage kodachromes

Image
These photos of Amish children were shot in Lancaster Co. Pennsylvania back in the fall of 1972 with a Leica M2R, a 50mm Summicron F2 and good old Kodak Kodachrome II. They never made a better color slide film.

Unusual lady

Image
This image was made at an event at a nursing home that I was covering. This woman was visiting her mother, a resident and arrived heavily made up in a vane attempt to betray her years. What can I say, vanity always wins.

Temporary escape from winter

Image
To do so there are many green houses to go to. One of my favorites is the camellia green house at the Planting Fields Arboretum on Long Island's north shore. It is absolutely fabulous and at this time the camellias are in full bloom. Also one can enjoy an endless variety of these wonderful flowers. There also are other wonderful greenhouses in this garden so for a brief time one can escape the winter.

The new boardwalk in Rockaways Beach

Image
Rockaways Beach took a heavy hit from hurricane Sandy and the beach and boardwalk were practically destroyed. The city of New York rose to the occasion and a new boardwalk and a restored beach were the results. Here are some images I just took that show this miracle restoration.
