Arrivederci

Image
Just returned from my beloved Castellammae del Golfo. A place that has become very touristy so much so that it's on the verge of losing it's soul and authenticity. But I love it no matter what.

Enjoy the weekend

The Book Barn

Image
Niantic, Connecticut is a lovely place but to a bibliophile like me what makes it very special is the Book Barn. In addition to the three specialized bookshops located on Main street, there is the famous barn located just outside town. Along with the books there are animals, games and may other fun things to do. This place is very busy because it's the central location where books are received. The Book Barn features basically used books at very low prices, A must place to experience.

Well, it took them long enough

The Truro winery

Image
Being in my beloved Sicily at the moment and in the province of Trapani, the most vinified [to make up a word] region in the whole EU - this is where Marsala comes from and where the large Alcamo wine region is and no matter where you look one sees grapes -  I am always fascinated with the wine growing regions in the States. I was very touched when I first saw grapes in Long Island and have seen other great regions such as those in Oregon etc. The Truro winery in Cape Cod is really very interesting because it attempts to grow grapes there. The young woman who gave us a tasting did say that much of the grapes come from other regions. Nevertheless the wines were pleasant and the rose was quiet good. As we say in New York, go figure.

A real beauty

This Dueseberg Model 1914 L took part in the 1914 Indy 500. The driver was Eddie Rickenbacker who went on to became a WWI hero. The car is absolutely stunning.

Palm trees

Image
These palm trees are in Piazza Petrolo in Castellammare del Golfo. I liked the light from the new LED street lamps that are the new world wide rage. Their light is very harsh but in this case it worked for the image.

Have a lovely week
