Bocce players
Corona Park in Queens has been taken over by the Italian bocce players. Who knows how many silly city ordinances have been ignored. They see these regulations as if they were still in Italy where rules and regulations are always ready to be broken or bent to accommodate the needs of the moment. Ar any rate, these players were having a great time and their verbal statements were very colorful. These photos date from the summer 0f 1986 when I was documenting the various Little Italys in New York City.

Archival photos
These images were shot in Washington. DC at an anti was demonstration. The sad thing was that behind the rhetoric and moral indignation, there was a great element of having fun. This could not been helped in view of the general youthfulness of the demonstrators. This was really a sad outcome of these rallies.

Cafee' Mille Luci
A Saturday morning back in 1986 in the Mille Luci Cafe in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. I was shooting for an Italian client who wanted to make a book on the various Little Italys in New York. People relaxing, talking and standing at the bar for their caffe'. We simply call it un caffe' and not un espresso because it's understood. Also, in the Italian style, espresso is drunk in a hot cup, standing at the bar and in one or maximum two gulps. It is followed by small drink of water. It barely seems possible that these images were shot over 30 years.
