The misery continues

As you have  gathered, I find nothing wonderful about the winter. I abhor it. It occasionally prompts me to take some photos that have at least some reportage value. Archival shot

This is what my beloved Castellammare del Golfo was like before the onslaught of tourism, when the port functioned as such and fishermen still went out at night in great numbers. Now this has become a so called tourist port and it,s warehouses have all been turned to restaurants and fancy cafes. Sad, really. The old charm is gone. This shot on Kodachrome II and the Canon FT with the 50mm f1.4 FL canon lens dates from August of 1969.

Lancaster Couty PA

It's always a pleasure to return to Lancaster County with its well manicured farms and Amish residents. The area is under attack from outlets and other shipping malls so it's getting harder to find the authentic places but they are worth looking for.

The National Gallery

This excellent museum is truly a national treasure. It has no admission fee and the art collections are spectacular. We went to see the current show on Piero di Cosimo, a lesser known Florentine painter whose work is nevertheless outstanding. Unlike New York where every event becomes  super crowded, here one may see the exhibits in relative peace. It's absolutely worth a visit or two or three.....
