Li tammurinari da festa / Canon G-11
The "tammurinari," or the drum rollers where traditionally a sort of town criers who would announce news and other important information. Here, regaled in traditional folk costumes, they are, in effect, announcing the feast that is to follow for the next three days. La festa di lu vintunu. The Feast of August 21st that starts on August 19th and culminates with the procession in honor of the Madonna del Soccorso [la Beddamatri di L'assicursu] the patron saint of Castellammare del golfo, followed by spectacular midnight fireworks. These were taken with the G-11, a really nice travel camera.
