Micro Four Thirds marches on

As we have been predicting all along, the large "show off" cameras will soon be a thing of the past. With phones that sport 41 mega pixels, this sane, portable and  capable system will get even stronger. Now Olympus creates a camera that even the most "serious" photographer can appreciate.

Olympus introduces it's new OM-D flagship ILC model, the OM-D E-M1 

Oly_OMD_EM1-group.jpg Olympus America  has just added some  very exciting new products to their popular Micro Four Thirds line of mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. First is a new flagship model for their OM-D line of weatherproof ILCs, the OM-D E-M1. This powerful model builds on the advancements made with their OM-D and Digital PEN lines, while also including some tfeatures from their powerful E-series of dSLRs. The E-M1 offers that retro look we've become accustomed to, and it's packed with some powerful features. These are: a newl  16.3-megapixel Live MOS sensor, a new TruePic VII image processing unit, new DUAL FAST AF system (offers 37-point Phase Detection or 81-point Contrast Detection AF), new Fine Detail Processing II technology, shutter speeds up to 1/8000th of a second, 10fps shooting  along with a 41-frame RAW buffer, a new Interactive EVF, 5-axis Image Stabilization, Lifeproof specs (Freezeproof, Splashproof, Dustproof, Idiot proof? etc.), built-in Wi-Fi, etc.. The OM-D E-M1 should  be available in October of this year (2013), with a Body only price of $1399.99. It only comes in black.
