La campagna romana

These plains outside Rome are known as la campagna romana or the Roman countryside.  Now it's full of ruins except for the top photo that is an aqueduct built by the Emperor Marcellus that still carries water to Rome. This is the famous aqua marcia. Amazing feat of construction.
