La Bedda Matri, in Sicilian stands for the Madonna, the beautiful mother whom Sicilians adore more than God. It's complicated as most religions are so it's better to avoid theology at all cost. What we have here is the procession that occurs yearly on the 21st of August in Castellammare del Golfo where tens of thousands participate. It is a spectacle that involves the faithful and moves them to the point where the simulacrum in effect becomes the actual Madonna. No matter what, it makes for interesting photos. These are from last August. The camera was the Canon G-11, an advanced point and shoot model.
Greetings, this blog is dedicated to my life in photography. I want to make this a place to stop and relax. In the hope that this will help in these trying times
