Le saline


These two images were shot in Mozia [Motya] in north western Sicily and not in the Low Countries. Here the very shallow sea affords the making of sea salt that is really sun dried. The wind mills used to used to mill the coarse salt. They have remained only as quaint tourist attractions because modern machinery is now used. They do make nice pictures. BTW, only Sicilian sea salt should be used for any serious cooking. It is that good.
This site is close to Marsala [of veal Marsala fame] and the area reaches more north to Trapani.
